KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is a C-terminal tripeptide of alpha-MSH that binds MC1R and acts intracellularly to block IKK-beta phosphorylation, thereby preventing NF-kB nuclear translocation and suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokine gene expression.
